"A good song from a good movie... to practice (BrE:practise) second conditionals, you know, that kind of "if sentence" we use when we talk about unreal, impossible or hypothetical situations.
If + the verb in simple past, would/could/might + bare infinitive (a 'bare infinitive' is an infinitive without 'to'). In formal English we say, If I/he/she were, instead of 'was'. However, in common/plain/colloquial English we do use 'if I was'..."
See the importance of forming the right grammar structure for making conditionals in our the daily encounter of our life? The right uses of the form of conditionals make communication skills more effective and more professional.
In the previous unit we learned about verbs. In this activity, we begin learning about a more complex correct usage of verb through what we call Conditionals. As you read each website ( listed under Resources below), you look for answers to some questions, and finally answering the Big Question.
You will do this activity in groups of five. Be sure to collaborate with each other in answering the questions and understand the basics and forms of conditionals.
